AP Quantum Mechanics

I teach this unit in grade 11 (part of chemistry 20AP). This material is covered before learning about chemical bonding. The lessons on the Bohr model of the atom go into more detail than is required. Calculating the energy and change in energy for the hydrogen atom is not tested on the Chemistry AP exam. I teach the Balmer series energy transitions as a setup for a Balmer series lab (students predict and measure the first 4 spectral lines of hydrogen).

The formulas on the AP Chemistry formula sheet are on the right. Note the formulas for the Bohr model of the atom are not present (or tested).
